Route 4 of 6

Postflop

Read the texture before choosing the action

After the flop, current hand strength is only part of the decision. Texture, price and future streets form the plan.

01

Classify the texture

A dry board offers fewer combinations and draws; a connected board creates more ways to improve. The same pair has different value in each context.

02

Turn the bet into a price

Pot odds compare the call with the total pot after calling. If you pay 60 to contest 240, you need about 25% equity for a break-even call.

03

Plan the next street

Before betting or calling, ask which cards change the plan and what you will do against another bet. An action with no clear continuation creates harder decisions.

Checkpoint

You call 60 to contest a total pot of 240. Roughly how much equity is needed to break even?
